Sunglasses & Tinted Lenses

What Are Sunglasses & Tinted Lenses?

Tinted lenses have colour added to the lens so that a portion of visible light is absorbed before it reaches your eyes. This makes bright conditions feel more comfortable, and it lets you wear sunglasses with your own prescription.

Tint colour and darkness vary between products. A tint on its own does not tell you how much UV protection a lens offers, since UV protection is a separate property of the lens. Check the product details, or see our UV Protection page.

How It Works

A tint is built into the lens so it absorbs part of the visible light that passes through.

  1. Tint is added to the lens

Colour is applied to your prescription lens.

  2. Part of the light is absorbed

Less visible light passes through to your eyes.

  3. Bright conditions feel easier

Outdoor viewing is more comfortable in strong light.
