What Are Near Vision Lenses?

Near Vision lenses have one prescription across the whole lens, set for seeing things at a close, comfortable reading distance. They are often called reading glasses and are commonly used by people who have difficulty focusing up close, including the age-related change known as presbyopia.

Because they are made for near distances, things further away may look blurry while you wear them. Many people put them on for close tasks and take them off for distance.

How It Works

A Near Vision lens applies your near prescription across the whole lens, so close-up things are in focus when you look through it.

  1. Your eye test sets the power

Your prescription shows the power you need for near viewing.

  2. Lens is made for close range

The lens carries that near prescription across its surface.

  3. Close-up detail looks clearer

Text and fine detail at reading distance come into sharper focus.
