What Are Distance Vision Lenses?

Distance Vision lenses have one prescription across the entire lens, set for seeing objects that are far away. They are commonly prescribed for people who are short-sighted (nearsighted) and find distant things blurry, and they can also be made for other prescriptions found in your eye test.

Because the whole lens carries a single power, it is not designed to help with close-up tasks as well. If you also need support for reading, ask us about Progressive, Bifocal or Near Vision lenses.

How It Works

A Distance Vision lens uses one prescription across the whole lens, so the same correction applies wherever you look through it.

  1. Your eye test sets the power

Your prescription shows the power you need for distance viewing.

  2. Lens is made to that power

The lens is made with that single prescription across its surface.

  3. Distant things look clearer

Far-away objects like signs or a board come into sharper focus.
